The Many Joys of Scrubs and Black Plastic Wrap

Ok, so this will be a real post, rather than just a rant about the stupidity of soft media parenting advice. *twitch*

My dog smells funny and is covered in prickly things. Ouchy.

Uh... soooo... Yeah, lately, I've mostly been at work. It hasn't been that bad, really, because there have been things to do. We were doing a returns project for overstock, and that, briefly interrupted by an insane Saturday cash shift, kept me busy.

Wait--Paris Hilton's debut single is a reggae song?? Yikes.

Anyway, I kind of got myself roped into working today. I thought that I was supposed to be working this evening, and I was checking the schedule with the manager who writes the schedule right next to me, and when he asked me if I wanted to work today, I said yes, assuming he meant this evening, but, of course, he meant a full shift this morning to finish the returns. So I lugged boxes around. And watched Scrubs. And teased the manager responsible for me being there when he wrapped the flats of boxes in this black palstic wrap stuff and got dizzy from all the running in circles. ^_^

Yeah, asides from that, I have no life. Joyce and I were going to go see X-Men on Sunday, but she had a midterm on Monday, so that fell through. And then Peter and I were going to go see it last night, but when I got off work, I needed food and sleep, both of which precluded movie-going. We're aiming for tomorrow sometime, since Peter wants to go instancing with his newly-60 cow. Silly boy. ;-p

However, I just got off the phone with him, and he wants to go tonight, prior to instancing. So we'll see what happens.

I Need a Brick Wall

(I used to say that in highschool when I got really frustrated with my Etudes Sociales teacher. My highschool was made of brick, so I eventually decided to blame the possible slight drop of my IQ on my teacher.)

It has been a while since I've updated this. I've been working a lot, and it's actually been productive and tiring, so that's kind of cut into my blogging energy. We need a standard weekend cashier.

Anyway, what inspired me to log on is that I require to rant. I was just reading an article on how technology may be harmful to kids. Not in the not-enough-exercise kind of way, but in the sense of arthritis. The case study was these two young teenage boys who owned three gaming computers, two Playstations, and one each of GameCube and XBox. The concern their mother had? Both boys can bend their thumbs back to their forearms. Now, that makes a lot of us cringe, but if you can do it, it's not really harmful. Jenilee can do that with most of her fingers. After that initial burst of vapidness, the article goes on to say that reserachers think there should be some studies done on how children are affected by the ergonomics of tech because, if there's no research done, there will be big problems with the injuries it causes in the future. Can we say "assuming our conclusions?" Argh.

And, as a kind of neat little easter egg in the whole thing, there was a link: They were quoting a doctor talking about the effects of gaming on "an entire generation of kids," and the text I just quoted linked to an article about how children can get around net nannies. I hate fear mongering.

The one thing that confused me, though, is that this article was linked to from sympatico.msn.ca, which I would think would want as many people online and using their survices as possible. Although, I must admit, in a former layout of that website, I used to go to the Family page and have some masochistic laughs at the ridiculous articles in there. I guess that I've just lost my tolerance lately.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go shower before work. At least it's only a four-hour reception shift. Maybe I'll go buy a magazine on my way in.

End of an Era

(Mom, if you're reading this, turn off the computer and go for a walk. You didn't go all the way to Italy to surf the web.)

The lownjlounge is gone!!! I was in FAB this morning (finally) paying my summer locker rental fee, and there were people doing construction. I took a chance and walked past the guy on the ladder doing something in the ceiling, and I was able to see that the whole room has been gutted. It's like a concrete and brick box now, soon to be a Drama room of baaaaad karma. After a year of them putting it off, I was starting to hope that it maybe wouldn't happen, but alas. I am sad. *sniffle*

Dates and Scheduling

Mmmm... Root Beer...

I just got back from the travel agency where Peter and I booked our tickets to Uruguay!!!! Oh, Shit, that reminds me--I have to go to the bank. I will continue this post in a moment.

15 minutes later...

Well, that was rather unnecessary. I needed to make sure that I didn't have more than $100 dollars charged to my Visa before the charge for the ticket went through (it was a card imprint, so it wasn't instantaneous), and when I got to the bank, I discovered I had less than $30 charged to my Visa. This was good news, yes, but I had brought rather a lot of cash with me, just in case, and I now find myself with most of it still hanging around, despite putting a lot in my chequing account. See, when I was saving up money for this trip, I took it out of my chequing account so that I wouldn't accidentally spend any of it, but since I don't have a savings account, that meant that I just kept it at home in cash. So now I'm putting it all back in installments, because all at once wouldn't fit in a deposit envelope. But all of it will go bye-bye when I have to pay off my ticket. :-( Oh, well. I get paid in two days. Yay, income!!!

So, anyway, as I was saying, the trip is booked! We have cancellationg insurance, though, just in case something gets blown up or my grandmother dies or something equally bad happens. Yah, my grandmother is in the hospital and won't be coming out. My grandfather got sick of her attacking him repeatedly. I have no idea why she was doing that. But even her doctor was surprised by how much worse her Alzheimers has gotten since November. My aunt seems to think my grandmother will be dead within a month, and I'm not inclined to insist she's wrong.

But, anyway, we leave August 3rd. Let me put that in context for you. My sister's wedding is on July 29th. We get back in Edmonton July 31st. August 1st we get possesion of our new house. August 3rd, we leave for Uruguay. Yeesh. It shouldn't be too bad, though, so long as I get my packing done before I leave for Vancouver. Or Victoria or where ever the hell we're going. The flight is to Vancouver, but the wedding is just outside of Victoria. In any case, I'll be back August 24th after three weeks, and Peter will be back September 14th after six weeks. So, schedule-wise, it would be best for me if my grandmother died in early July. That way my parents will be back and I won't miss seeing people at the end of June. I know, I know, I'm horrible and there are people who would be disowned for saying and/or considering things like that, but oh, well. She's going soon, so I may as well figure out what parts of my life may be displaced so that I can take measures to compensate, if necessary.

But, anyway, about the end of June. Chineese food has been decided on. Peter's gonna do stuff out of Barbara Tropp's China Moon cookbook. If any of you ever had the pork buns we've made a couple of times, those are from the same book. The menu hasn't been solidified, but there will be four courses: 1) wanton soup (pork), 2) some sort of meat dish (either chicken or beef) with some kind of fried rice, 3) some other kind of meat dish, probably pork, with some kind of noodles, possibly cold Thai noodles, and 4) a dessert, in tarte form (possibly the ying-yang tarte on the cover of the book).

Now, what I need from y'all is info about when you'll be in town. This means Jo, Kaitlyn, Doug and Courtney especially. If anybody knows anything about John, that would be great, but I'm assuming he's not gonna be back by then. Oh, and what's up with Sean? The table seats 12, but we have extra collapsable chairs if necessary. (*ba-dum-crash*) The usual suspects are of course invited: Pri, Morgan, Angela, Dave, Sheryl, the out-of-towners I mentioned above... I may be forgetting some people. Dates are welcome, especially if they're named Iggy or Eric. Also, we're taking drink suggestions. I mentioned Caesar-sans, but Peter rightly pointed out that those are from the wrong culture. We're gonna have wine and/or beer pairings. Did I mention Peter bought Singha the other day? Anyway, speak up and be fed!

This is, of course, in honour of Jo's return home, so it will be sometime when she can make it, but we want to have it so that as many people as possible can be there.

ETA: Peter's been making fun of me, so I'd just like to publicly proclaim that I have learnt that it is wonton soup, not wanton soup. Also, I want more pork buns. Those things rocked.

List and More

Ok, I'll get to my list of things first:

Kwasi
He's a semi-regualr customer at A&B. He's very into anything to do with African culture. He even wears these robe-like things. Yesterday he accessorized with a sparkly gold hat. I'm pretty sure he is African, but has lived in North America for at least several years. He drove one of our DVD guys insane yesterday requesting this DVD that we couldn't comfirm existed, and he eventually wound up putting five others on hold. But that's not what I wanted to say about him. The last time he came in, he had had a copy of Titanic put on hold for him. Whoever put it on hold, though (I'm guessing it was Moira, the DVD supervisor), had put both the regular version and the collector's edition away for him. Since I was working where holds are picked up, though, I got to deal with him. He was rather confused about the difference betweent the two editions, and clarified by saying "I want the one that was on the screen." So I gave him the normal edition and he left happy. But he came back about five minutes later to ask about the other one. I explained the differences to him, and he decided on the collector's edition and, again, left happy. He then came back about five minutes after that and asked for the regular edition, saying that his wife had suggested that, because the one was a collector's edition, that they keep it in mint condition and get the other one to watch. I didn't have the heart (or the patience) to tell him that the collector's edition of Titanic would never be worth anything, mint condition or not.

Tofu
I have been experimenting with tofu products, specifically this Tofu 2 Go stuff. It's four wedges of flavoured extra-firm tofu with dippibng sauce. The "Mambo Italiano" variety was rather good, so I decided to try the "Sesame Ginger" variety. Yeah, that wasn't so good. So I have decided that I am ok being a tofu poseur. I can act all cool about tofu, rather than making a face or staring blankly into space when somebody mentions it, but I will keep my exposure limited so that I don't actually have to eat very much of it. ^_^

Uruguay
Oh, this reminds me--I have to check my e-mail. I'll write about Uruguay when I know more of what to say.

Absent-minded Ops Manager
The manager who writes the schedules at work always seems to forget stat holidays. So my 5-9 shift tomorrow night got cut because we close at 5. Yay, extra day off!!

Ella
A couple days ago, my Auntie Yanny and my cousin Tiana came into town from Calgary. Tiana's husband was graduating from some sort of security guard training program that he'd done in Edmonton. Tiana is pregnant with their second child, and her first, Ella, is almost two years old and is just ridiculously cute. She was in a pretty dress for the graduation ceremony, she had curly blond hair, and she kept pointing at Farley and saying "Puppy!" She was also attempting to play my piano. My aunt took pictures of that. ^_^

Etta
There was a woman at work who was looking for "At Last." I was panicking, looking for some other performance of it, because I didn't realize that Etta James was in the Blues section, not the Jazz section. I had to call Lindsay for help. I then felt rather stupid.

Offical Drink of Summer
I must counter Jo here and proclaim that _my_ official drink of summer is Starbucks' Caramel blended coffee frappucino. It comes in regular or light, and, like the name suggests, actually has coffee in it, rather than just cream like the grean tea frappucinos. However, after I wrote this list, I was at Peter's Second Cup and saw their new smoothy drinks. The fuit syrup that goes into those things is, seriously, jam. It's nuts. And there's like five _big_ pumps of it in each drink. I tasted a bit of the peach syrup. It was rather yummy, but I can totally picture a diabetic like my father dying from one of those drinks.

Chinese Food and Lobster
Peter wants to do two dinners this summer: one good, authentic chinese dinner, and one using Thomas Keller's lobster recipes. We were thinking of doing one in late june when Jo is here. Anybody who would like to be present (especially Jo), cast your vote as to which you would prefer.

The Weather
*Family Guy Weather Forecaster Guy Voice* It rain'd!

ETA: Arah
I discovered that my friend from high school, Arah Slack, has a CD on hold at work. It's been called, but I'm hoping that I'm around when she comes to pick it up. :-)

Now onto something that wasn't on my list:

I got my hair done! I love it! I got side-swpet bangs and _red_ "peek-a-boo" streaks. The stylist almost wouldn't let me do it, but wound up quite liking it. It took two and a half freakin' hours, though, but was worth it. Jenilee just got her hair cut, and wound up sitting around for, like, an hour and a half while I was still getting stuff done. I'm really glad I got it done professionally this time, though. It's so much less stressful, and much neater. The two times I had red streaks in my hair before, I got Joyce to do them, and while they turned out remarkably well, it was rather nerve-wracking. I'll post a picture of what I got done today if I remember.

"Lawn," etc

We have a service that comes and mows our lawn becuase it's huge. In the winter, they shovel our driveway because we're lazy. We refer to these people collectively as "Rob," because he's the guy who owns the company. Rob, the specific person, is a kind of person thought by many to not exist; he is a man who actually looks good in a mullet. But anyway, "Rob," the group, is currently mowing my lawn. This is good--it needs it. What I can't figure out is how the hell he got into my back yard. The latch on the gate broke clean off, taking a large chunk of wook with it. In order to prevent my dog from getting out, I wrapped elastic bands around the old latch that no longer latches properly, but is at least still attached to the gate. God knows I couldn't have opened that gate from the outside. Oh, well. The lawn is being mowed and since "Rob"/Rob has been paid for the month, it's probable that nobody will come ring the doorbell to talk to me, so I more or less won't have to worry about this for another week. Or I could go buy a new latch and attach it to the gate.

It is hot outside. Apparently we hit 31 degrees yesterday. According to Global news, there are 28 places in the province where Environment Canada measures the temperature, and yesterday 22 of those places broke heat records. Two other places tied. So I went shopping for summer clothes yesterday. American Eagle was remarkably disappointing, so I went to the Gap. They had lots of stuff, and when I tried it on, I realized that I had lost some weight. I then proceeded to spent rather a lot of money. ^_^ But I got shorts, tanks tops and a really nice brown linen dress which Peter rather liked, too. ^_^ I also went to the drugstore and bought myself a slew of summer grooming products, like this Jergens lotion that has sunless tanner in it. It was the only kind I found that had a formula specifically for fair skin. I was worried that with the other kinds, their "hint" of sun would be more like "toasty" on me. So now I am officially summer-ified. And Jenilee and I go to get out hair done on Sunday. I'm soooo tempted to just cut it all off because it's kind of like wearing a toque and scarf in this heat, but I know better than that. Awkward growing-out phases suck, plus I'm not sure I'd look that great in short hair to begin with. Something to save for a later date, perhaps.

I picked up my mail last night. I realized I hadn't done that in about a week and a half. The University sent me a nasty note for not paying my tuition for Spring term. So I paid it online last night. I also tried, last night, to register in a new section of EDPY 303, because the section I was registered in got cancelled, but I have $5 in library fines, so they wouldn't let me do that. Bah. I guess I have to go pay that... See, this is why you don't read books! It's all about the internet resources. ;-p

I'm trying to remember if there's anything else I wanted to say. I am having difficulty doing so. The crunchy "granola" stuff we get from Costco is all soft and sticky from the heat. I need to fill my dog's waterbowl. And do the dishes. *sigh* Maybe I'll go get on that.

5/17/2006

Happy Morning!

I have a venti and all is well with the world. Despite it being before 10am, I just called Peter. I had to tell him the most excellent news. Peter had insisted that my parents be at least grudgingly ok with me going to Uruguay, so I e-mailed them. They just got back to me saying Yes, fine, we're ok with it. They then went on to say that they'd pay for it!!! It's on the condition that I only go for two weeks instead of four, but, hey, I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I had set everything up with the bank so that I could pay for it myself, and I even had $1500 saved up, so this is a pleasant surprise. I'll book it later today, when Peter's actually awake and we can organize the exactly dates of the trip. The flight I had chosen because it was cheap left on August 3rd, which was cutting it a little close for moving into my new place August 1st, so I'm thinking I'll leave a couple days later than that now that I have the choice.

I took Farley to the vet this morning, and on the way back, two nifty things happened:
1) I saw a truck painting lines on the road. I'd never seen that before. It was pretty cool. The excess paint was all swirly. Those trucks are remarkably accurate, too. What can I say--I'm easily amused. ^_^
2) I hit Starbucks for my venti, and the woman there gave Farley a cookie. He was happy, but he had trouble eating it on the small space of the car seat because of his lampshade, and he wound up dropping part of it in my backpack. He then lay down and looked longingly at my backpack on the floor of my car, and gradually got more and more daring until I had to dig it out for him so that he didn't eat my phone or something. ^_^

Anyway, I've been working on the post for over half an hour now. Multi-tasking and whatnot can be distracting from the zen art of blogging, so I'll sign off.

5/14/2006

A is for...

So this is another thing I got from Jo's blog. She assigned me the letter A, so I have to come up with ten words that start with that letter and explain what they mean to me. I'm assuming that I can't just write "A pony," etc, so I'm going to have to be creative.

1. Attention. It is what my dog is currently demanding, as he so often does. Yeah, I'm typing with one hand right now. My dog, of course, thinks I should be using this hand, too, to pet him. Excuse me a moment...

Now that I have filled Farley's treatball, I can continue in peace.

2. Attourney. My dad was one (well, his law firm called them "barristers and solicitors," but, really, everybody else calls them lawyers). Now my dad is a judge. This apparently means that my dad was a good attourney who had similar views as the people with the power to appoint him to the bench. Being a judge is like being semi-retired. You work no more than four days a week, usually only half days. This works well with my dad, who has sleep apnia, so he never gets a good enough sleep at night, so he can come home from work at 1 pm and sleep for another few hours. Loudly. Being an attourney was like working three jobs, at least for my dad. Yeah, that lead to some Unhappy!Father moments. Three cheers for the plethora of medications they put him on to counteract that!

3. Avocado. I threw one out a couple of days ago because it was black and squishy. I promise that I'll put more effort into the next one.

4. Aebersold. I have spent the past week hearing a great deal about Jamie Aebersold. His method books seem good enough, which is hard for me to admit because the first person who ever told me they existed was Ken Klause and he's an evil bastard. But what really got me this week was his appearance and voice. We watched his "Anybody Can Improvise" video from 1993 in class this week, and the man seriously could be a chapter leader for the KKK. In addition to the southern accent, his hair is worse than Donald Trump's, and his cheeckbones!! Oh, good lord, his cheekbones! For any of you who ever watched Buffy and know how much James Marsters sucked in his cheeks, let me just put this in context by saying that Jamie Aebersold's cheekbones are ten times scarier, without him even trying (or, I assume, wearing makeup). That man frightens me...

5. A&B Sound. I can't believe it took me this long to think of this one. Yeah, it's where I work. I called in sick yesterday. Hallelujah! I really did spend all day yesterday asleep, though. I go back tomorrow evening. Oh, well. It's easy, somewhat fun on occasion, and it makes me money. I have finally saved up enough for a plane ticket to Uruguay. Plus, the bank upped my credit limit to $2000. So it's all good for me, right now. :-)

My dog has returned. Time for more extreme tactics.

Oh, dear. I gave him a chewy without thinking about it. He can't hold onto it to chew with his lampshade on. He's still trying his damndest, though.

6. Asprin. I'm getting a headache, so I should get some. Well, actually, I should get some Advil and Cafergot, but Asprin is a good generic catch-all. Kind of like the way some people use the word Coke to mean any kind of pop/soda/carbonated sugary beverage. I'll get some once I finish this post. Incentive to think of things to write, all ready!!!

7. Address. My address will be changing soon! And as unhappy as I am about having to tell all the institutions I deal with about it, it means getting out of this house! This house is too big and in need of some aesthetic upgrades, such as new carpet. The carpet in here has been subjected to much too much. But the new house will be all shiny and to our exact specifications. I am greatly looking forward to essentially having the basement all to myself. :-)

8. Accent. Apparently Albertans have rather neutral accents. It's why we have so many call centres here. I applied for a job at Ipsos-Direct a couple of years ago. They offered it to me, but I turned them down. Yeah...

9. Association. I'm surprised that the Homeowner's Association here hasn't given us some sort of warning about Farley's barking. I'd go outside and stop him right now, but he's occupying himself this way. Besides, homeowner's associations are evil. I remember once when one of our neighbors reported us for painting the _inside_ of our fence in Glidden "Grey Fence" (or whatever the shade was called) instead of Behr "Grey Fence." Maybe the association gets a kickback from the brand for mandating that particular paint colour. Who knows. Either way, I am annoyed by its existence.

10. Accomplish. I came up with then words that start with the letter A that are at least semi-relevant to my life! Yay, me! I get an A!

If you wish to play, leave a comment and you will be assigned a letter. Not the letter A, don't worry.

trait snapshot:
changeable, in the middle, suspicious, somewhat traditional, dislikes chaos, down to earth, group oriented, practical... you scored in the middle on the overall factors of this test.

Aren't I all nice and undeterminate? But I gotta say, the category descriptions you get if ou click on the links cover stuff that totally didn't come up in the quizz. According to the Female Cliche category, I notice people's teeth. ...wha?

I'm in the computer lab in Rutherford North. This is the fourth lab I went to. Most labs are clsoed for the summer. Lunch started 20 minutes early today, since it's the last day of class, and a bunch of people went to the Plant, but I didn't want to spend extra money to eat unhealthy food, so I came to check my e-mail, etc, and discovered that Jo had put a nifty little thing on her blog. So I stole it. ^_^

Tom gave us this amusing handout called "How to Sing the Blues," and part of it dealt with how to come up with a blues name. It said that you should start with a physical impairment, such as Blind, then a fruit, like Mango, then the last name of a former president, like Washington. Blind Mango Washington does have a certain kind of ring to it, eh? I think I'd omit the fruit part of my blues name, should I ever come up with one, since fruits tend to have different connotations with women than they do with men. And apparently deaf is bad, so I won't include that. And I'm not about to call myself Bessie or Big Mama, as the handout also suggests. So I guess I'm SOL on the blues name front. Oh, well. I never did get around to shooting a man in Memphis just to watch him die. ;-)

ETA: This doesn't really fit, eh? Damn. Oh, well. Eventually it'll be further down the page and will be easier to read.

5/11/2006

Oilers in 7

1. There's looking to be a reunion of sorts in late June/early July when Jo comes up and people finish teaching for the year. This should be most excellent. :-)

2. I *heart* Haagen Dazs cookies and vanilla ice cream bars. :-)

3. I'm watching the news, and there's a story about luxurious maternity suites at the Royal Alex and Grey Nuns hospitals. Theme rooms. That's... quite something.

4. Only one more day of EDSE 446 left. I fell asleep during the Jamie Aebersold "Anyone Can Improvise" video this afternoon. Ugh, I need a break.

5. And to that end, I've told work that I'm suffering from exhaustion and can't make it in on Saturday. This is kind of true. I was doing quite horribly four or so days ago, but I'm getting better. However, I really do need to do things like dishes and laundry and take my dog for a follow-up appointment, which I have so far been unable to do, due to sleep requirements, so the day off to reset everything so that I can go back to living a normal life (rather than needing to stir my coffee with a knife and Febreeze my clothes) is probably for the best.

6. I say "HA!" to Peter now that Chris has been eliminated from American Idol. Katherine all the way! ;-p

7. The vet told me to make sure my dog's injury didn't scab over so that it could drain. When I checked on it today, it looked like it was closing up, so I took some gauze and tried to descab it. Yeah, there was no scab--it was just healing from the inside, like it should, and my attempt to descab it just made the wound bleed all over again. I feel quite bad. :-(

8. I want somebody to come up with a hit novel/movie about how DaVinci kept records of how to build bridges and thatch roofs and construct an archway. Maybe all these records could secretly be spelling out how to achieve faster-than-light travel.

5/09/2006

It's Spring Term for Tommy and EDSEEEEE!

I'm watching a CSI rerun. On Spike, of course. I'm killing time while waiting for the vet to call me back. Farley came home last night. He's doing well. I'm assuming that the reason the vet called earlier (and then I called him and he'll call me back when he has a minute) is because Farley needs a different kind of anti-biotic. They had to culture the bacteria, and it wasn't finished when I picked him up yesterday. They also gave him a different lamshade that's too small, so I've been having to watch him closely so that he doesn't lick himself. I'll get a new one the next time I go in.

So I'm taking EDSE 446, the jazz program in schools class foremerly taught by Dominic Spera, now by Tom Dust. Two days out of five are over. There are 13 of us, only three of whom are proficient in a jazz band instrument--Ben, this guitarist and I. Well, there's one girl who can play legit piano reasonably well, but she's on trombone. And there's a bassist, but she's also on trombone. The lab band makes me twitch. Plus, playing with people who can't play very well is difficult. But the course isn't all that bad. It's all stuff I already know, but it's an easy pass/fail three credits in five days, so I'm really not complaining.

Oh, and apparently Aaron Keyes is dead. I hadn't heard. Depressed because of his divorce and ODed while doing a cruise ship gig. Too bad--he was a pretty great trumpet player.

Tuesdays are quite possibly my favourite day of the week. Plus, the Gilmore Girls season finale is on tonight!!!! *stoked*

My Life (As of Firday Morning) In Point Form

1. My dog is currently at the vet. He suffered another ruptured anal glad. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds. He basically, yet again, blew out his ass. There are now a number of blood stains to be cleaned up. In addition to this, when I took him to the vet, I was told that Farley also had an infection in both of his ears, as well as having significant gum problems. The vet touched his lower gums and they bled. It was not cool. So Farley will be staying where he is until at least tomorrow, maybe Monday. Poor puppy. :-(

2. I did one of the stupidest things _EVER_ last night. When I got to work, something in my backpack set off the security things that beep. I shrugged at the cashier and carried on. The same thing happened again when I left. There was now a different cashier, and I told her she could check my bag if she wanted, and she suggested that I just run my bag over the demagnetizer. I took my wallet out and did so. What I didn't take out, however, was my iPod and my computer. Totally never even crossed my mind. Peter reminded me later, though, and I dug my computer out at Earls to check that it was all right. It is, that God--that's not exactly a powerful demagnetizer--but I haven't checked my iPod yet because the battery is dead. Here's hoping, though.

3. My parents leave for Italy tomorrow morning. This is why the blood stains aren't being dealt with immediately. They'll be gone for about five and a half weeks. I'd declare the date of a blow-out party, but I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't be able to find this place. Stupid Riverbend. Go to Peter's instead if you want. His dad's in and out of town all the time, so there's a pretty good chance he wouldn't be there if you just showed up. ;-) I told my mom to bring me back something Louis Vuitton that wasn't a purse. I expect a wonderfully kitchy and sacreligious t-shirt of the Cathedral in Florence instead. ^_^

4. I've had "Let it Be" stuck in my head since last night, and, while it's a pretty song, I only know a few lines, so it gets boring pretty quickly.

Opera Makes Me Sneeze, Too

I don't have to work today! Yaaaay! I booked the day off so that I could make it to a doctor's appointment, but that only took half an hour, so I have the rest of the day to relax, which makes me happy!!!

Peter, however, is probably in an even better mood than I. He's downstairs making creme caramel after purchasing custard dishes that are actually oven-safe (the first batch didn't go so well), Susser Lee is on Iron Chef tonight, followed by the conclusion of the 2-parter of House, his GPA for the year is 3.9 and the scholarship he got turned out to be for $9,300.

Myself, I still haven't gotten over the fear inspired by the nightmares I used to have about making custard, I suppose Iron Chef will be nifty, I am ecstaic about the new House episode, and my GPA is fine but not scholarship-worthy. But I get to eat some of the creme caramel, and I never bothered to apply for scholarships in the first place. ^_^

Oh! Something I've been meaning to mention! We still have somebody's camera from when we went for Thai food, like, two months ago. It's a digital camera that uses four AA batteries. We thought it was Doug's, but he says it isn't, and we're not sure where to go from here. If it's yours, please tell me and I'll try to get it back to you asap.

Holy crap! It's after 5pm! When the hell did that happen??? It was 2 o'clock, like, an hour ago, I swear~! It's easier to miss evening in the summer, what with all the daylight and such. The only problem is that I've missed the news a few times by accident, which annoys me. I like watching local news. I'm weird that way. I don't particularly care about the Oilers, though. Oh, speaking of, I was trying to drive down Whyte Ave at 9:30 on Monday night. That was difficult and vaguely scary. Apparently the ruckus didn't peak until about 11, but, still. And I had such a horrible headache and with all the honking and scraming, I just wanted to get to a place that had Advil. So when I finally got to Peter's place, I took three and went to bed. Couldn't sleep, but at least I was still in a quiet, dark room. Man, it's been a while since I've had a migrane that bad...

Now if we wind up playing Clagary in the next series, I'm staying the hell out of public as much as I can...
